Her commitment

Aligned with UN sustainable development goal 10 (reduced inequalities)

I commit to supporting access to employment by implementing tools and resources to promote connections between Québec employers and job seekers from ethnoculturally diverse groups.

“I want to be useful and help solve the problem of labour scarcity through diversity and inclusion.”

– Fatou Bocoum, President, Also Recrutement

A recruitment expert promotes diversity

Building bridges to support diversity

When she decided to create Also Recrutement, Fatou Bocoum was armed with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a graduate diploma in IT governance, and solid experience in recruitment from working with multinationals. Her initial idea was to offer a specialized placement service for technical personnel serving several sectors of activity. Over time, she saw that there was a chasm separating employers, who were dealing with labour shortages, from skilled people who are ethnoculturally diverse and facing difficulties integrating to Québec society. Being from Senegal herself and therefore aware of the problem, Fatou Bocoum decided to take action. This was the backdrop against which in October 2021 she created a new online recruitment platform: Jobalso.ca.

A mission of employment, diversity, inclusion

Also Recrutement’s mission is to create lasting business ties with its partners and contribute to their growth by playing a strategic role in recruiting human resources. With Jobalso, this commitment grew with the desire to help develop more diverse, equitable, and inclusive businesses, while working for significant improvements in employee recruitment, performance, and commercial innovation. This position holds sway among clients and with Also Recrutement, where employee well-being is key. The business, which practices collaborative management, put in place a hybrid working model as well as an internship program that enables ethnoculturally diverse graduates in human resources to gain invaluable experience.

A positive impact on society

Barely two months after Jobalso was launched, more than 50 renowned Québec businesses chose to post their job vacancies on the site, generating a substantial number of hires. Partnerships were established with organizations specialized in the employability of people from diverse cultural groups, and Fatou Bocoum’s company is involved on this front by offering immigrants mentoring and student groups advice on integrating to professional settings in Québec. The Also Recrutement agency’s success lies mainly in raising awareness among businesses that use their services about the importance and strategic nature of being open to recruiting employees from ethnoculturally diverse groups, by finding the top talent for them on the job market.
