Who are our business loans for?
We believe our economy should be fairer, more inclusive, and more sustainable, so we provide financing and mentoring to businesses owned, in whole or in part, by at least one person who identifies with one of the following groups that remain underrepresented in entrepreneurship:
Women
Immigrants
Racialized people
Members of LGBTQ2S+ communities
People living with a disability
Members of First Nations and Inuit communities
Our services are exclusively for these entrepreneurs because we believe that a more inclusive and diverse economy is also more sustainable, innovative, and resilient.
*these individual or individuals must own at least 25% of shares and voting rights, and hold a strategic position within the company.

What are the eligibility criteria?
Businesses that would like to apply for a loan must meet the following six criteria:*

Be legally incorporated and registered with the Québec Enterprise Register or plan to be before the loan process is finalized.

Have its head office and main activities in Quebec.
3
Have a financing need based on the business’s stage of development, such as a start-up, growth, acquisition, or business succession.

Contribute to at least one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals by being either: an impact business (a business whose services or products offer a solution to a social or environmental challenge) or a business committed to adopting or enhancing sustainable development practices throughout the financing period. Be led by individuals who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or who hold a Québec Selection Certificate (CSQ) with proof of an application for permanent residence, or a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) with proof of an application for permanent residence.

Be led by at least one individual from a community that remains underrepresented in entrepreneurship (women, racialized individuals, immigrants, members of First Nations and Inuit communities, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and persons living with a disability) and this individual or these individuals must own at least 25% of the shares and voting rights and hold a strategic position within the business.
*Evol reserves the right at its sole discretion to refuse any loan application that does not meet its eligibility criteria or economic viability requirements (see legal notes). Social economy enterprises may be eligible under certain conditions.

We don’t currently offer grants. Our financing is provided through conventional loans, paired with comprehensive, personalized mentoring.
Interest rates are determined based on the project’s financial, environmental, and social risk profile. Rates range from 7% to 10%.
We provide financing for start-ups that are ready to start generating sales within the next three months, businesses in the initial stages of commercialization, and companies that are already marketing a product.
If your business is still in the pre-startup or ideation stage, contact your Regional County Municipality (MRC). They can point you toward local advisors who can support you in your efforts.
Our financing includes mentoring tailored to your needs. And in our experience, having dedicated advisors to turn to when needed can save you time, money, and energy. You’ll also have free access to experts from the Brigade-conseils, who can connect you with professionals in areas such as human resources, legal affairs, accounting, marketing, production, and more, depending on your challenges. In addition, by reviewing your financial statements, we can share insights that help you make informed business decisions. There’s no downside!
