Evol participated in the “Forum des Femmes entrepreneures autochtones francophones,” presented in partnership with the BMO Chair Université de Montréal, on Friday, February 10, at the UdeM MIL campus.
This event, organized by the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH), the Mikwam Makwa Ikwe WEKH national Indigenous centre, the Quebec and francophone communities of Canada hub of the WEKH, and the BMO Chair for Diversity and Governance Université de Montréal, in cooperation with their partners, celebrated Indigenous, francophone, female entrepreneurs and was meant to inspire other Indigenous women to become entrepreneurs.
Because statistics show that Indigenous female entrepreneurship growing rapidly, access to social and financial support is crucial for businesswomen from these communities.
In fact, Indigenous entrepreneurs face many obstacles when it comes to accessing resources. The economic vitality of their businesses is therefore more fragile in a number of ways.
The program for the event featured conferences, panels, and roundtables, and the afternoon unfolded in a spirit of sharing knowledge, expertise, and experience.
Representing Indigenous entrepreneurs and organizations from the entrepreneurial ecosystem, speakers addressed the reality of Indigenous women in business and expressed their vision for the future and resources that could contribute to the development of their businesses.
Actors from the entrepreneurial ecosystem who offer coaching and support to Indigenous entrepreneurial communities in Quebec were invited to present their services and resources.
It was an event filled with discussion and discovery that forged a path to creating strong networks to foster the creation and growth of businesses owned by Indigenous women.
